• "Ma mère est née sous les yeux de Santa Cruz et moi sous les yeux de notre Bonne Mère." (My mother was born under the eyes of Santa Cruz, and I under the eyes of our Good Mother.)
• "Le sang rouge ensoleillé habille mon âme, sans arme." (The sunny red blood clothes my soul, without weapons.)
• "J'aurais aimé être née à Oran ; ma souffrance aurait ainsi été proche du néant." (I would have liked to be born in Oran; thus my suffering would have been close to nothingness.)
